Testing and Certification

The certifications that apply to a particular fume hood vary depending on the design, intended use and installation type.

Ductless fume hoods are subject to the same certifications and testing regulations as other laboratory equipment to ensure quality, safety and environmental stewardship. Some common areas of certification or compliance that can apply to either the hoods themselves or the facilities in which they are built, include Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Electrical Safety (UL-C-61010-1) and OSHA (Standard 29 CRF).

Common certification bodies include UL LLC (previously Underwriter Laboratories), Association Fran├žaise de Normalisation (AFNOR) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
